Default December Pickups!

Haven't seen anyone start this thread yet, so I'll go first! My final month of the year has gone off with a bang! Would love to hear your thoughts on any of these cards. The strips are phenomenal to me. I love the cuts. Living works of art. The Jackie and Hodges are big Brooklyn Dodger pickups for me. My team collection! (Gashouse too

Great cards, David! I have only two strip cards at the moment, a 1943 MP & Company Carl Hubbell, and this gem that I just picked up at the Chicago Sports Spectacular. Having previewed your forthcoming SABR essay, I daresay this card is almost too clean for the strip cards genre.

hasn't been obliterated by the winds of time yet... disqualified!!

But in all seriousness, w515 is one of if not the best strip card set in my opinion. there's some high comic book style art going on in there; the face and the background colors in this one are a perfect example. seriously sweet card.

Here's my first T206 pickup in a little while. I purchased this from Dean’s. Their website was easy to navigate, their price (on this particular card) was reasonable, and their shipping was quick. I’ve heard a lot of negativity regarding Dean’s before; however, my personal experience was enjoyable.

As for Dahlen, I had been searching for a copy for a while. It’s nice to check this off my list.

I've been searching for a Teddy Ballgame rookie for a while - finally found one with the right eye appeal for the grade. Happy to add it!

Default E210

It doesn't look great but it's an interesting HOF card for under $100 and fit in my E210 slot for now. Collecting on a budget. I think this is from Tim N and the BST, a few months before the National.

I traditionally don’t buy a ton of prewar, but when stuff that looks this good shows up at the LCS, it’s hard to resist.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I've wanted this card for a long time and finally pulled the trigger on one a little while back. Super happy to have it now.

Even folks that only collect Hall of Famers and superstars should consider picking up the 1933 Goudey Richards card, because you will likely end up staring at it more than you imagine you would, because of those converging lines that lead your eyes to the outfield grass and wall beyond. Be ready to stare plenty in your future Andy.

Two big pickups for me this week.

E92 Nadja Bridwell. I was the underbidder on this card years ago. Since than, the card has sat on Ebay with a certain banned board member I refuse to do business with. It was just consigned to REA and picked it up for almost half of what I bid before. I'm now at 48/59 confirmed cards in the set. Unfortunately, most of the rest are either unicorns or laughably out of my budget.

E105 Wagner picked up at the Philly Show yesterday. I keep telling myself not to think about doing this backrun, but then pick up another one.

E92 Red Crofts - Anyone especially Barry and Shean

Finished my T206 Polar Bet set in December of 2023 and then spent the first half of the year, working on upgrades. I then decided to pursue the entire 520 starting in the summer. So finishing the year at #281/520.

1 card a week for the next 4.5 years will get me to 520!

Got this gem in the mail over the weekend. Only $13 delivered. Perfect OBC condition. Folded up just like they were meant to be back when they were distributed. Love it!

No. 130 ........................................

up12.jpg

I started my “Hindu Hunt” probably about 10 years ago, mainly to expand on my “mid-tier” back set. I originally set out for just the SLs. As they started to accumulate, I decided to expand to others. Finished the SLs with the big “Howe” collection and added many more tough ones. First I thought that maybe I’ll get to 75, then maybe 100. In my wildest dreams I couldn’t imagine getting them all. But now, only 6 to go:

Alperman
Evers (bat--blue sky)
F. Jones (portrait)
Gilbert
H. Davis (A's)
Walsh

It’s taken 10 years ……. I have a few more in me …………….

Fun, fun, Scott

I needed a 1930’s card for the little group of non T206 cards, so happy to welcome a Sport Kings Cobb to the group! I had a 1933 Goudey Gehrig that I sold on the BST years ago and would love to add it back!

Also, the Rose Co. PC of Nap! Can’t explain how excited I am to have this one!

Happy hunting,
Bob

Another fun one in the mail today!

I traded this card away about 15 years ago. Thanks to Rob G for sending him back my way. I love the New Orleans issues! I also need the T213-3 Factory 8 Overprint HOFer for the cousins of the T206 HOF backs line. Welcome home Mr. Collins, after 15 years, two wives, five moves and 687,000 frequent flyer miles!

Let’s watch some college football playoffs!

Bob
Nice group Bob. Those T213-3's, especially the overprints, are really tough. Congrats.

Also, the Rose Co. PC of Nap! Can’t explain how excited I am to have this one!

Happy hunting,

................. T207 Time ....................

BIG Thanks to Luke for this little "eclectic" bunch ..............

up13c.jpg

Trying to get as many Recruit Anon.3's as I can. Up to only 20, but it's a start .......

Can't beat adding a few Naps. here and there ........

Finally, my favorite (and I consider the toughest) back, an Anon.25. Which now consist of ~25% of my BLs .................

Fun, fun, Scott

Pickup for my collection of players who were on the Senators' 1924 WS Championship team. I'm still looking for the variation of this card that has Foxx and Klein spelled correctly.
