Default Lancaster, Pennsylvania anyone?

Any one have a spot down in Lancaster, PA where I can kind of drive by with the wife as we are “antiquing” and pretend I didn’t know it was there?

When I was a boy, I was in Pennsylvania and I bought about 20 1955 Bowmans in a rubber band for $5.

Leaving tomorrow morning - get at me!

Don's Collectibles at 13 East Main Street, Strasburg. I haven't talked to him in ages. I heard he had a good card collection at one time. Strasburg is a very nice little town. Maybe you can take a train ride while you are there.

Wheatland Auction Service - 1615 Manheim Pike, Lancaster. They handled the Uncle Jimmy collection. I think they have a store. They are an advertiser and contributor to the board, so they can speak for themselves.

Man, your post got me giggling!!! Ha ha!!

If your attempts to furtively 'discover' a great card shop go the right way, that would be subter-HUGE!!!!

I will also say Don's collectibles in Strasburg. Lots of cool stuff and he is a nice guy. I stop in every few months when we go out there.

Also, somewhere along route 30 is a very large antique mall. I will try to look it up and post the address.

Good Luck hunting!

.."Adamstown" P A is 50% antique stores , shops , stands , and dealers . ; famous locally . And any diner/eatery in the area has food to rival the big cities. I like " Zinn's".

Went to the old train ride today. Saw Don was a mile away. We parked for “ice cream” but somehow landed in front of Don’s shop. What a gentleman. Engaging. Listened to my stories.

The kids found little treasures. The girl found some dolls, the boy bought two packs of baseball cards. $23!

I saw a ‘55 Bowman Ernie Banks. I thought it was $50 and I almost pounced on it. It was $250. Alas, with the wife at my side, I had to pass. $50 on old cardboard I can sell. $250…not today…

Went over to the toy shop and bought a tunnel and an old Tyco depot for $50 instead. (I hope this tunnel survives the ride back to Long Island!

It's always been gambling, but the buy-in costs these days are really insane. The from-factory cost for 2024 Topps Chrome was just under $1 per card on a hobby box and it's not hurting any sales.

Putting together a set of basic Topps flagship by busting packs hasn't been economical for many years.

I did not! I have to go out there with just the wife…I loved it out there as a kid. I love it now. My 9 and 8 year old were not sold on the beauty of Lancaster County. Hershey Park? Yes. The pool at the airbnb, yes. I guess the train ride in Ronks was cool for them. But the model trains and antiquing - not a home run!

I lived about a mile from what was their headquarters for years.

So much cool collecting history in Lancaster, American Caramel, APBA, if you like toys Gabriel and Hubley trucks.

Whenever I think of Lancaster, PA., I think of the caramel cards..

I would guess it would be a good place to pick cards, but maybe that time has passed....

Leon, that is a great looking card for the grade!

IMHO, "coolest" American Caramel cards are these:
