I just picked up a collection of 1956 and 1957 Topps Baseball cards. A lot of commons with only a few duplicates. Not a lot of stars but some. Here are the highlights
The 1956's include a lot of gray backs like Jackie, Berra, Mays, Killebrew, Hodges, Rizzuto, Banks, and Campanella. These 56's would range from vg to ex maybe one or two higher. Bob 1957 stars .jpg |

Very nice, congrats Robert. Now show us the 56's! And is there a good back story to the deal?

Not much of a back story. Basically, whenever someone brings in an older collection to my friends store he calls me to come in to look at them. He (John) does not like to keep things as he is in the process of cutting down to retire in the next year or so. So he calls me and I make John an offer of what I would pay. He then makes an offer to the customer based on my offer. If the customer accepts John pays him and then I pay John. The customer is happy, John makes money (for basically doing nothing) and I get the collection. So that how it happens for me.
The other part is that these were from the mans childhood and he was the original owner. Here are some of the 1956's. Do not let the scans fool you. The Jackie has several creases as do a few but not all of the others. The Jackie would grade a 1 and I will be selling that after I get it back from PSA. Most of the cards are Gray Backs. I need to read more about the white back vs gray backs Bob 1956 Lot pic 0001.jpg 1956 Lot pic 1.jpg Last edited by philliesfan; 02-23-2024 at 10:13 AM. |
