Display ideas? Cards by decades…
I’m looking for ideas from other collectors who display their cards when they span many decades…. Like many collectors here, I assume, I am a HOF baseball collector with T cards all the way up to modern (early 2000 HOFers) and I have them on shelves generally by decade.
I’m wondering if anyone has any clever ideas how to surround the cards to reflect their era. I have a few ideas but haven’t decided yet so I thought others might have some thoughts to share. Here are a few ideas I am kicking around: - empty Topps wax boxes for 50’s through 2000’s - photo cubes with classic images of baseball from that specific decade - magazines from each era with covers that reflect the era of cards/baseball That’s all I have so far - I am leaving toward empty wax boxes to stay in line with the hobby itself. I hope I am articulating the quest clearly! If anyone has really nailed so clever and cool ways to complement their displays by era and/or decade, I’d love to see what you have come up with. Here are a few “before” photos of my display, just to help inspire others to share - thx Jeff

Jeff, I don't have a direct answer to your question, but I am wondering where you got your baseball related patents. Those are truly impressive.

I’ll be sure to let my Daugher In Law know that you found them to be as cool as I do!

Funny, those were the first thing my eyes were drawn to as well. Cool item even as a repro.

Wow, all I can say is I’m excited to see what you end up with. One thing I’ve found in constantly rearranging my collection is that mixing lots of different things together can look really good.
With cards this can mean a player collection that mixes vintage + modern + art cards. For other stuff, it can mean mixing cards, balls, and other random stuff.

I seem to remember a post with a photo of kids in the street collecting tobacco cards, I think they were T206's. If anybody has a a better memory of the photo or can find/post it I think it would make a great back display for your T206's.

My suggestion is to pack everything in boxes and put them in your closet. That's what I do.

What you need to do is win the Baltimore News Babe Ruth card and display it right above the license plate and below the Goudey Ruth because, Jeff, sometimes you just gotta say, "WTF" and outbid everyone and win it, right ? beer chug.gifbeer chug.gifbeer chug.gif
