Like many here, I am a HOF card collector and have benefited from so much great information here from other collectors.
I am thinking I may pick up a few items to complement my card collection and might start with a Ted Williams autographed baseball. I plan to buy an authenticated ball - any other advice to offer from experienced collectors? Sweet spot placement, blue ink and nice clean auto on an American League ball would also be ideal. Any other advice or risks to be concerned about? Thanks all Jeff

Trustworthy authentication companies:
PSA/DNA, JSA, Beckett (BAS), Steiner, Upper Deck (UDA). Stick to those and you'll be fine |

If you see one available here, grab it.
I've bought two over the past few few years from people with impeccable reputations.

The advice I always give to novice autograph collectors and novice T206 card collectors is to start with a few low value, non-Hall of Famers, to get a feel for the market and an understanding of what authenticity looks like.
If you are going to jump into the market higher than that then you sure have to rely on PSA, SGC, JSA and Beckett.

I would say for Ted Williams go with Upper Deck. Lots of options available from them: pics, balls, bats, cards. They are more expensive, but fraud is much less of a worry. Buy Upper Deck from a reputable dealer and you've got a good chance it's real.
