Just received my Ho-Jo, aka Rempel's take on the Brooklyn Bum.
Picked up Rempel's Big Chief Erie at the beginning of the year and had been looking for a Ho-Jo in good condition. He's right at home now, loitering outside of Ebbets Field ![]() |

He looks right at home! Excellent example, and condition-wise top 1-2% for sure.

Lucky for me not many people pay attention to hockey during the summer. So I was able to pick up this program from1990. It is signed by Bobby Hull, Jean Beliveau,Gordie Howe, Red Kelly, Rod Gilbert And Ken Dryden in the center foldout and on the back by Vladislav Tretiak.

Jaimie that’s an incredible addition to your collection. That’s a special photo. Although my pickup pales in comparison I am probably just as thrilled as you are. There are very few images of the elusive Rimp Lanier. This is the only action photo I have ever seen of him. He played in 6 games batting 4 times during a brief 1971 September call up. He didn’t play an inning in the field before he returned to the minors never to play another game in an MLB uniform. He was the victim of the depth of the 1970s Pirate Roster. He played 7 minor league seasons and ended his career with a .428 career on base percentage.
Anything related to Rimp is rare. These two photos are as rarer than his autograph. For whatever reason he is very private if not reclusive. His autograph on a 3X5 will sell for over $300 if you can find one. I have no idea why but he fascinates me. A few years ago I found his address and mailed him two copies of my team issued publicity photo and $50. I included a self addressed postage paid envelope and a sharpie. I asked that he sign one and keep the other. I told him use or donate the money to his favorite charity. He kept both photos and the cash LOL. One day if I muster the courage I’ll fly to Cleveland and knock on his door. That would be an awesome or perhaps dangerous adventure. It might be worth the risk to get one of these photos signed,

Also picked up a few more legal/financial documents that have been up for auction related to the Red Sox sale of Ruth to the Yankees. Some of the executed documents were just amazing that have sold the last few auctions. I went the next level down and grabbed a few file-copies/letters etc. or related documents referencing the sale. I work in the debt finance world so this is a perfect niche of everything that interests me. They will look great framed on my wall of my office. Here is a recent example I had framed and the other two are what I just won tonight with a description. Definitely a little geeky.

Thanks for comments. I am fan of great Goalies and and in signed programs in General. Ken Dryden was the first Hockey player I heard of that was difficult to obtain in person. So very happy to cross him off my list.
As for the other posts the Signed type one of the 27 Yankees is Awsome! Where was show in NJ that you picked up the rings? The 71 Rimp Lanier makes me laugh. A laugh that only collectors that have spent countless hours chasing obscure and rare Items undestand. Congrats maybe he sees this and sends back one of the photo's( dont think your getting the $50 back). 71 Pirates is one of those teams. I was at Yankee game today and saw a guy with a Clemente phone case. We started talking and the 71 team came up. Thankfully the 60 team did not. Rob, I believe that photo of Rimp was taken while he played in AAA he wore #48 in Pittsburgh. I’m just pleased to find a photo of him period. It’s the little things like this that keeps a myopic collector such as I going.

This purchase ended a very long quest to complete my Orioles Media Guide and yearbook run. This first season 'guide' has been pretty elusive, not easy to find in decent shape. This one is a beauty. There isn't a lot to these Orioles guides from the first few years in Baltimore. They really were not much more that Spring Training rosters as they are called on the cover. Just three sheets of paper folded and stapled. It wasn't until 1960 or so that they became more than just 'pamphlets'. Fast forward to 2006 and the guide clocks in at just shy of 500 pages.
I wish they continued to publish these in paper form but I understand that things have changed. The same goes for yearbooks. 111.jpgIMG.jpg IMG_2617.jpg

Love the 60s artwork, Adam...
I still remember that Olds Toronado being so cool in 67-68. "Fastbacks" were new to the scene and all the rage back then. Tried to talk my Dad into getting one, but he liked his Impala. ![]()

Picked this one up for my collection. I'm figuring it's 1937-40 or so. 35", 35 oz. Supposedly the bat belonged to the great uncle of the seller. The uncle had acquired the bat at an auction back in the 1950s and had gotten it with a glove and a signed ball as well.
Lombardi's bats are one of the somewhat more difficult to obtain bats of the pre-war Hall of Fame members. This is actually the 2nd Lombardi game used bat I've owned. At some point after I sold it, the previous bat sold through the "GOLDEN AGE OF BASEBALL" auction at Christie's back in 2017 for $9375. That bat is now shown on the PSA Pro Bat Facts website. Picked up a few more unique bats. The first one has a star in a circle with something underneath but can't make it out. Has anyone ever seen a bat with this marking on it? Would love to find out more information. Second one is a nice striped bat with a grooved handle. Pretty cool looking bat.

Technically a pickup, I found this among my father's items. He is kneeling bottom left. Circa 1971, "The Bayonets" Korea 122nd Signal Battalion. Cross posted to a couple other threads. Size is 8x10.

As I am often late to post some of the newer acquisitions we've added to the collection, I hope you won't mind an August'ish pickups post...its been a long summer!
Several items of particular interest and enjoyment are what I'll be posting on: 1. A really nice 1910'ish AG Spalding model bat; Uncracked and NrMt in terms of condition, I just love these bats (a 33" club) as they, for all intents and purposes, are the only "signature endorsed" Spalding bats one can add to a collection. This is our 3rd such piece. 2. C. 1955 Mickey Mantle Rawlings Model MM fielders glove...pics speak for themselves...I love this glove! 3. By way of a good friend and fellow board member, I was very happy to add a circa 1860s CDV of two ball players taken at a NJ photography studio. I think there is a remnant of a tax stamp on it...at least the outline and placement would suggest that. If so, its circa 1864-1866. 4. Found in Morrisonville, NY...a town founded in 1810 and on the border with VT...is a tremendous example of a Snyder Style Wound Handle Bat with French polish finish. I've very much enjoyed seeing everyone else's wonderful additions and hope they keep on coming for the next week or so! Best, Jonathan www.dugouttreasures.com AND THE PICS... |

Circa 1955, Mickey Mantle Rawlings Model MM fielders glove...It remains soft, supple, and sturdy, with a pristine mfg. patch, a flawless interior, and quite a bit of silver stamping remaining. Just a great glove and one that I have been hunting for quite some time.

Circa 1860s CDV of 2 ball players taken at a studio in New Jersey. The possible remnant/outline of a tax stamp on the reverse of the image suggests it may be from the period between August of 1864 and August of 1866.

Circa 1870s Ward B. Snyder wound handle model bat with French polish finish. This is a fine example of this style of bat that, by way of extensive study and examination of catalogs and images, does date back into the 1860s.

...and very nice bat pickups, Ron...the maple bat is fantastic and a style that I'd like to try and re-add to my collection. The lone one I ever had slipped thru my hands, but did so in a very good trade. I also like the one with the incised grip...would be interested to see the whole of it if you can fit it in a single pic.
