Help on this wire photo

Got this cool wire photo from 1956 of the famous Ted Williams "Spitting game".

I thought it was a "normal photo" but back is the reverse image of the front. It is paper thin and almost feels like onion skin.

Is this an "original wire photo negative or something? THX ALL. Scott
