Default Just watched the Dodgers game (LAD 6, ATL 5)

Maybe it's because I'm excited to be watching baseball again, but there's a lot of guys that I enjoy watching on the Dodgers.

Beyond Ohtani, I really like Tommy Edman. He's an easy guy to root for. Him and Mookie Betts both.

The other guy that's easy to root for? Pete Alonso. I can countenance the signing of Juan Soto since the good guys also signed the Polar Bear.

Frankly, I'd rather have Pete Alonso than Juan Soto.

`As a Braves fans, these are tough days, even though the two teams that have beaten them are both still undefeated. Someone asked me why the schedule was as it was, rather than starting on the East Coast or even at home. I reminded them that having that experience can include cold weather; even snow - and at least, weather was great for those beat-downs.

I do hope 'our' Freddie is more careful in the shower from now on.

Atlanta has gotten themselves a pretty deep hole and that cannot expect the Marlins to just roll over for tonight's Home Opener.

As big a fan as I am, I will have to miss most if not all of tonight's game as I will be attending a Columbus State game...first time I've been there in 50 years...when I was on the team as a wild left-hander. They're aren't having a good season so far, but much more successful than the Braves.

On April 15, I'll be attending the first professional Baseball game in Columbus in 17 years as the Braves' AA team, the Columbus Clingstones (good grief) have their Home Opener at the newly (and vastly) upgraded Synovus Park. The old site, Golden Park, saw a lot of history and a lot of great players - though most were visitors. I will be wearing a Columus Jersey, but a (Brooklyn) Dodgers cap to honor both Jackie and my cousin Whitlow.

We have had affiliates of the Cardinals, Astros, White Sox, Yankees, Indians, Dodgers, Pirates and Rays call Columbus home, but this will be the first time the Braves will be represented.

Hard to believe Columbus hasn't had a team in 17 years. I feel like the Yankees ran a never-ending supply of desperate bullpen arms and spot starters back and forth through the Columbus shuttle for decades.

Based on the past two days, sure.

Alonso was damn near useless down the stretch last year until one big HR at end.

But that was a big HR! I dunno, Juan Soto is obviously good, but I just find it hard to root for him. Maybe because I think he's a bit of a douchebag for turning down the Yankees' $760 million offer after all the love he got from the Yankees fans last season. I don't even like the Yankees, but I still think it's a bit quiche of him.

Well, glad you got a team back. Minor League ball is still pretty great!
