Help with info on Unitas football
Hi Gang:
Just obtained this MacGregor Unitas Football. Does anyone have any info on it? Year issued, are there other players with similar footballs, ads showing this ball, any and all info appreciated. Not something I collect so I will be looking to move it after I can ascertain what it is that I have. Appreciate any and all info

Johnny U was one of several players that MacGregor signed as their "Advisory Staff'. They had baseball, football, golf and (I think) basketball stars, maybe other sports as well. I have a bunch of the 8x10s they issued.
The Unitas pic is the pose they used for this football. There are a couple of ads on eBay at the moment, one containing Unitas and Mike Ditka and others. I saw a 1963 date for this football but who knows?

Just got the below info from another forum.
Now I just have to figure a fair value and in whose collection this should reside Here's an ad from the October 21, 1965 issue of the Peninsula Times Tribune (Palo Alto, CA). The model is listed in another ad in 1966. Ad, Peninsula Times Tribune (Palo Alto, CA), October 21, 1965.
