Do you guys collect modern baseball cards as well?

I've been solely collecting t206 since I started again two years ago. Looked at some unboxing videos of modern cards like the high end Topps cards. Very pricey at > 1k. They aren't even cards and look more like miniature shadow boxes. The relics and auto cut outs seem odd to make into a card as it now makes it super thick. Am I missing something?
