A few years back I got myself a complete set of 77/78 Topps, and all but 3 of the cards were white. I've since been looking for a set of gray backs. I once read where they were produced in roughly equal amounts and that neither commanded a premium, but after a few years of searching, I can say that the gray backs certainly seem scarcer, especially when looking for a complete set of them.
Can someone illuminate me on what is know about the production of the 77/78 set and why we have this variation, and whether as I seem to be encountering the grays are harder to find? Thanks! |
