I recently picked up the scrapbooks of Witt "Lefty" Guise, a pitcher on the 1940-41 Cincinnati Reds. The whole thing has falled apart and it looks like someone had tried to make it into a project but gave up.
Once I make some sense of the lot, I'll post some of it on the memorabilia side. Among the newspaper clippings and photos are 2 double-sided pages on which he pasted 28 of the W711-2 team set. There's actually TWO of each in the scrapbook, pasted front and back. I purchased the scrapbook because of the old clippings, photos and ephemera, and the cards were a bonus. My question is, would anyone be interested in purchasing the group as-is, or would it be worth trying to soak them off the pages? I don't collect cards so I would like to move them on to a real collector of these. One of the cards, Willard Hershberger, has come loose and I included a shot of the front and back below along with the other cards. The front of the card is where the glue was and part of the scrapbook is clinging onto the surface. One neat thing is that Lefty Guise has hand written "1940 World Champions" on the title card. That's really cool. To me it is almost like folk art and it represents a player's pride in his career. I would just leave it as is. I have a few other cards that were augmented by the owners so nicely that I kept them. They may not be worth much but they are interesting.

Interestingly (to me, at least), the collector didn't bother with the Reds' broadcaster, Harry (Socko) Hartman.

I guess Lefty didn't care for the play-by-play stylings of ol' Harry. Probably more of a Roger Baker of WSAI fan...
