I don't collect them which explains why I'm, only now, noticing and asking about it.
The Bird / Magic RC is 1980 Topps Scoring Leaders card, also showing Doctor J. Doctor J was 4th in scoring in '79-80 ; 7th in '80-81 and Bird and Magic weren't even in the top ten either season ; Magic didn't even lead his team (Kareem). Does anyone know why these three were on the Scoring Leaders card? They were among the leaders… .

Topps made a typically Topps choice that year, and each card was supposed to be three small cards.
So the Bird and Johnson are just their cards The Dr J scoring leaders card is another typical Topps thing. Dr J was the team leader in PPG, but of course, the back shows the all time scoring leaders for the team. I like Topps, but they did some downright weird stuff. The next year was the wonderful four sets to make one but oh yeah, three of them are regional year. |
