I’m sure many on here can identify this in a second so saving me a few hours is appreciated.
For me this comes out of the small world file. A friend was offered a chance to purchase a collection about 120 miles outside Detroit. I was lucky enough to be with him when he viewed it and turns out it was mostly show/store leftovers and a few rejects from the collection of Jim Kraft that went to REA in 2012.
Jim was one of those 70’s early collectors I had the pleasure of meeting and learning from as a kid. His shop, which seemed more like a mini show as often multiple dealers had their own areas, was a half hour from my house but every so often or for my birthday I was treated with a trip to his place. Once I got my driver’s license I would stop in more often. Having lost my father at a young age Jim was one of those kind, patient hobby people who always had plenty of time for this inquisitive young collector.
Viewing the collection I got to share memories with Jim’s “little sister” as she fondly recalled. The REA pics she shared were amazing with a Turkey Red Cobb, Goudey’s, a complete Fro Joy set and more.
Please share any memories of Jim you have.
