Hello, Because of rising fees/tax everywhere, I have now decided to start searching other venues in regards to selling some of my vintage baseball collectibles. I have not sold anything here in the past but have been a member for several years. I have over 900 positive feedbacks on Ebay if that makes a difference.
I am looking to see my Circa 1886 A.G. SPALDING Celluloid 5 balls/4 strikes umpire counter. I have attached several pictures here as well. I believe it has the 3 original screws in it. It has some damage on the backside as someone at one time carved their initials it is....still works. A couple of these in the last several years have sold for tremendous amounts of money....almost $2000.00....the most one ever sold for was around $2600.00 but that one came with the original box. I do not have the box. I think I have seen around 7 or 8 total sell since around the year 2000. These are very hard to come by....it's nice however that you can date it.....1887 was the only year in baseball that had the rule of 5 balls and 4 strikes.
I will also include the traditional Spalding Celluloid 4 ball and 3 strike counter as well. I am thinking around $1100.00 because of the backside damage to the piece. However, don't really know actual value so if you want to make me an offer instead---please do so...I will consider it....if nothing comes from this....will probably move to Ebay in the future. This price will include the shipping cost/ extra insurance if desired. I am set up to do PayPal as a gift or even a personal check if needed with a 10 day hold. Thanks for your consideration and look forward to hearing from anyone who might have an interest in this great vintage baseball collectible.
