Default SOLD HISTORIC Eddie Gaedel Bill Veeck related item

This is a Historic piece.

It's from Saturday August 18, 1951. The day before the Eddie Gaedel Game.

Scored (as collectors prefer), a Browns 20-9 beating of the Tigers, and a save by Satchel Paige, but more importantly the subtle clues Veeck put in this scorecard of what lied ahead.

Gaedel Game scorecards go for crazy prices:

$2623

$2291:

So if you don't want to spend $2000 plus this is about as good as it gets.

Now again, this is the game before, however what makes it so unique is that 1. Bill Veeck knew what was planned for that Sunday Doubleheader and keeping it a surprise, however inside this scorecard once opened he provided everyone with a clue of what was to come. And I've seen the Friday night game program, this is not in there, only in this Saturday day before program. The clue was he listed "1/8" as a uniform number but a blank space next to it. The next game that blank space would be filled in with the name GAEDEL.
He also lists a "0" and that blank spot was for Max Patkin the baseball clown. They gave another hint saying "Doubleheader tomorrow Browns vs Detroit Tigers First Game at 1:30 Plus Gala Birthday Party and Festival of Surprises" - the main featured surprise being Eddie Gaedel!

2. The 2nd thing that makes this unique and a piece of history is that it is signed by Veeck himself, and a few of the players. So how neat is it that Bill Veeck knowing what no one else knew just yet, but had it in his head and he signed this scorecard on that historic weekend. Less then 24 hours after he signed this he would forever change baseball and make history by sending a midget up to the plate of a major league baseball game.

$300 or best offer - paypal friends and family preferred
