Hello,
Is there any good guide for the right prices to pay for uncut sheets, salesman samples, or partial uncut sheets of vintage sets. I picked up a few 49 Bowman ones but have no idea if the price I paid was reasonable. They weren't terribly expensive, but I'd still like to know how to value them (other than the old advice that if you like it, just enjoy it). Tony Bram99 |

Tony uncut sheets have many variables. The most basic sheet is a full production sheet that had all the colors applied and have both fronts and backs and are complete 1949 bowman sheets are 36 cards. Key cards on a sheet add the most value so a high number sheet with Satchel and Duke would be quite a find. Ted Z is a great reference for any uncut sheets. And a quick search on 1949 bowman uncut sheets will bring up a number of auction sales with prices. Incomplete sheets missing front/back or colors have interest from a number of different collectors. A sheet missing the red background on a Jackie Robinson would attract a lot of attention. Post what you picked up and you will know right away if lots of folks contact you. Good luck.

Jonathan,
Thanks for the note. I have talked to Ted Z. about 49's before and bought a few from him. He seems to be the godfather of the 49 Bowman set, so I have talked to him in the past. I didn't reach out on these. But since I posted this note, I have done a little research as well. I probably got a bit excited and paid a fair price for the sheets on the base price of the auction, but the auctioneer charges a big BP and shipping so I am probably into them for too much. I am collector and more of a hoarder, so I am not a seller in general. But I would probably sell some or all of these. Here is the link to the Huggins & Scott auction I recently won. You will see that they are double-printed on back, which is probably why they survived as a partial sheet: https://hugginsandscott.com/cgi-bin/...l?itemid=26966 I found a 2011 REA auction of the same subjects (9 X 4 = 36 card sheet) with the same error (double-printed backs). I don't know if the 2011 auction sheet was cut into smaller pieces to get the Musial graded or if these are part of a separate sheet and survived as 4 and 6 card blocks. The auction link below is to the 2011 36-card example, not the ones I bought. http://www.robertedwardauctions.com/...g-stan-musial/ Anyway, as I said, I probably got too euphoric on these and would be willing to part with some or all if someone has a great interest.
