I know the 56 mantle #135 white back is more rare but at what ratio versus the gray ? I've heard from different people 2 to 10x as scarce ... thoughts ?

Check the PSA pops. It's free. Then judge for yourself.

The ratio overall is 14 greys for every 1 white card. I think this is a higher skew than for many other players in the 1956 set. But, if you want better conditioned cards, then white backs become even more scarce. PSA 6+ are MUCH, MUCH scarcer in white relative to grey backs (56 to 1) ALL CARDS Grey: 6272 White: 455 Ratio: 14-to-1 PSA 6+ graded Grey (6+): 2261 White (6+): 40 Ratio (6+): 57-to-1 |

For comparison sake:
ROUGH RATIOS (I didn't do the same precise math as for Mantle): Mantle: 14 to 1, grey more than white Clemente: 3 to 1, white more than grey Robinson: 3 to 1, white more than grey Williams: 3 to 1, white more than grey Koufax: 4 to 1, white more than grey The other outlier, like Mantle: Mays: 14 to 1, grey more than white. The greys in higher grade - PSA 6+ - are 42 to 1, grey more than white |
