Lost package PayPal claim

I bought an item on eBay, package was sent with tracking and made it as far as my local post office where the scans stopped about 3 weeks ago. I went there and they looked for the package and could not find it. Will PayPal refund me when the package was clearly sent but didn't get to me?

As long as it doesn't show as delivered, you'll get refunded. I had a similar situation happen in January. The tracking history just stopped with no progress. The seller refunded my money, I didn't even have to get PayPal involved. The package later showed up, I contacted the seller to make them aware and resent payment.

Thanks. The seller has perfect feedback and is asking me to be patient which I'm fine with, but eventually patience wears out.

Post Office has been brutal lately. Here's the tracking on a package I sent to the Chicago area in late January.

This was a Priority Mail package. Got from my place to the Chicago area in two days.

Then it bounced around there for two more days.

...and then it disappeared for 12 days.

Coincidentally reappeared on the very same day I filed a tracking alert and missing item claim on it.

....and then bounced around Chicago area depots for 4 more days, getting several scans at exactly 12:42 pm on 3 seperate days (how to explain that, I have no idea).

Finally shows up, no worse for wear, according to the buyer, on the 14th. 3 weeks after it was sent out.

You have a pretty extensive window to get your money back from Paypal relatively easily, as long as tracking doesn't show as "delivered".

You'll have absolutely no problem getting your money back if it wasn't shown as delivered. The Post Office lost 3 of my packages I sent out last month,although one did finally show up after 3 weeks. I had to reimburse my other 2 buyers,it wasn't their fault.
