Default FS: 1954/55 Roberto Clemente Pre-Rookie Correspodence

Three unbelievable pieces that date to before Roberto Clemente set foot on a major league baseball diamond.

Dated December 15,1954, this letter hails from the offices of major league baseball. The letter acknowledge a letter that had been sent by Montreal to the commisioner making a claim for the services of Roberto Clemente, who had been selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Rule V draft less than a month before. The claim was obviously unsuccessful, as this was likely just a shot in the dark by the Dodgers organization.

This is an item worthy of a museum. Asking $650 delivered

Two days after the Pirates select Clemente in the Rule V draft, this letter asks his Winter League team in San Juan Puerto Rico for some images of Clemente, and also asks them to have Clemente fill out a team questionaire.

Another awesome pre-rookie Clemente piece. The Pirates get ready to tell the public about their future Hall Of Famer.

Asking $200 delivered.

In answer to the letter above, the San Juan club encloses images of Clemente and allows for reproduction of same.

Asking $250 delivered.
