I was running through my usual search on eBay for 1955 Parkhurst wrestling cards when I seen this.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-Gorgeo...YAAOSwautZzE2~ So are these cards really rare.If so what type of premium should be added. The only reason I ask is that I have 7 of them and I notice that 6 of them are similar to the one in the scan on eBay.That is the printing is in black ink.But I have one that the printing is in green ink.So does that mean it is even more rare. I know for the 1962-63 Parkhurst hockey that they were available in bags of chips produced in New Brunswick. So were these Parkhurst wrestling cards available in bags of chips as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks. |

I believe the cards were in bags of chips well as I have never seen a wrapper for the cards and you would think that some of them would have survived over the years if they were in packs.
As for the printing on the back, they are more rare but not sure if they are more valuable. I imagine any premium with this ink stamp could potentially be replicated by people today if there was a significant premium and someone could create a stamp to do so......slippery slope potentially for the third party graders. |

After-market stamps aren't really collected, for just that reason. There are exceptions, mostly for stamps that have been in the hobby for a long time and have built up some notoriety as a result.

I am trying to put together the 1954 set, and after thumbing through my cards I found two of the backstamps. Kind of hard to read, but the stamp is there.

I would imagine that the back stamps on the lucky premiums are especially rare.....

I looked at my set and my singles from the 54 set.I did not have any with the stamp on them.

The stamps haven't seemed to affect value much. The vast majority of the cards with the stamp are in lesser conditions.
I could see a near-mint card with a clean stamp selling at a decent premium, but those are few and far between. |
