Help with ID/Info on Walter Berger Bat
I bought this yesterday at an antique shop for $20 bucks. Any wooden bat has got to be worth that, right?
You can barely make out where it is stamped "Walter Berger Model..." on the barrel and "34" on the bottom of the knob. It looks to be heavily used. Lots of dings on the bat and dirt ground in the end from standing in dirt. My guess is that this is a commercial bat, sold to the public, by Louisville Slugger, and dates from the 1930s-1940s? Wally Berger was a slugger for the Boston Braves in the 30s-40s (I'm a Braves fan). Any help identifying and additional information would be appreciated. Thanks!
