T205 help

any clue why this card went for about double what I thought it was worth?

Its a common, with common back, I dont see any "errors", just wondering.

IMO the T205's are way under valued and this should be the going price but until last night I havent seen these prices on a card like this.

I agree completely with your assessment regarding the Duabert card and T205 values in general, BUT I would like to get a few more T205s knocked off my Wantlist BEFORE we see a big run-up in prices...just saying!!!

I've always put a slight premium on Daubert. Sleeper card IMO.

I wouldn't put him in the same class as Dahlen, Raymond, Karger, Turner, Wagner, etc. He's recognized as a common and is available in various backs.

A good quick indication of SP cards is doing a search on Ebay.

For instance there are currently 7 Loberts listed for sale with 3 that have sold. Hauser has 21 for sale and 4 sold. On the other hand Daubert has 0 for sale and only 2 that have sold.

I agree Daubert is tougher than some sps like scanlan for instance. I have two and wouldn't part with them for less than sp prices.

Well to start Scanlan is not an SP. Same with Fisher and a few others. I don't care what anyone says. I have done the painstaking research in regards to what actually is an SP and is a tougher common and have posted this before several times.

To the card in hand I will say Daubert in a mid to high grade is super tough. It's already a tough card but for some reason they were not cared for or survived in good condition. A premium is going to be had on a card in that condition.

Great read and impressive research by Pup. One piece of info that jogged my memory from that thread was the Graham "Rustlers" ink variations.

I wonder if the Graham blue ink vs. black ink variations will ever be recognized. Seems like a no brainer to me compared to the Dots Miller "D" vs. "B" variations that are now being slabbed.

I was surprised by the Daubert as well. I need that card and that's right in my wheelhouse condition wise. I had no idea it was tougher than any other common. I put in a snipe at about half the winning bid and thought I had a good chance at it.

Brian thanks for posting that link. Man that was a lot writing there. I agree with Turner that the Graham should be recognized. I remember posting that find some years back. Probably under my old handle of Pup6913. Anyways the Graham is a no brainer.

Hey guys.

The T205 Jake Daubert is a tough card mainly due to the fact that Daubert has quite a "following" in the coal mining region of Pennsylvania.
He was born in Shamokin, PA and played semi-pro ball in Lykens, PA before playing for Brooklyn.

I set up at several BB card shows in Pennsylvania. I usually bring about twenty Daubert cards. They are always sold by the end of the show.

Daubert was a pretty darn good ballplayer with a .303 career BA. He was twice the NL batting Champion in 1913 with .350 BA. And in 1914
with a .329 BA.

A very well liked and respected ballplayer of his era (1910 - 1924).
