Default FS-Mark Roth/Bubbles Hargrave 1930 Yankees expense check

Very cool 1930 road account check endorsed by then team secretary Mark Roth, made out to and endorsed on the reverse by EF "Bubbles" Hargrave. Prior to working for the Yankees, Roth spent time as a New York scribe...He is credited as being the first individual to call New York's Highlanders the "Yankees". Although he is credited for nick among the team of the century, there are several theories as to where the nickname came from...

As for Hargrave; he earned the nickname bubbles due to his inability
To pronounce words that began with B. He was a good hitting backstop who averaged over 300 for his career, and also was the first catcher to lead the legume in batting.

Two tough signatures with a great story
