Default Here is how my package showed up at PSA today

Does this look like a hand or machine damage?

Sorry, about crappy image this the picture I got from PSA. I tried to catch it at post office in CA. {I was going to have psa open it any way and see if anything was missing} but apparently already refused and mailed back to me. Has this ever happened to anyone else? this is side of box

Is that an Ansel Adams? Color photography has been around for a long time.

Yeah, I had a package like that when it arrived at psa. Thankfully all the cards inside were still packaged securely so no cards were damaged.

there was some nice stuff in there; many nice commons from 49,50,53, there were 1939 playball samples commons. It was mostly pre 1956 commons, minor stars, but nice clean stuff I had for years and was waiting to grade. It was insured but not for enough if I have to replace it at todays market prices.

X2!

Really, one of my biggest concerns as well sending cards in, and I'm up here in Canada.

Just a general question, as I've never sent anything to get graded: when you send them, is the name (PASS, SGC, etc.) actually in their address on the package? If so, it seems like a flashing beacon for theft.

I agree, as more people get to know the hobby and the potential money involved with it, the more chance of something like this happening.

Good luck. I hope it was just terrible handling and not a crime. Things are scanned pretty frequently at the post office these days. I would hope the chances of getting away with flat out theft are so low than someone wouldn't want to risk losing their job and going to jail over it.

Happened to me about a year and a half ago, only it was BGS not PSA. Lost a Jeter rookie and a JJ Watt auto numbered to 25. USPS handled insurance claim within a week.

I hate seeing that. It's the exact reason I refuse to send anything to PSA via the mail.

If I need anything graded, I save it up and take it to a show where PSA is in attendance.

Does PSA grade onsite at any shows other than the National?

I just looked at PSA's show schedule for 2017, and the answer appears to be no. While they do have on-site grading at the National, all the other shows indicate that they will be accepting "take home" submissions, where you drop off your items, they take them back to So Cal for grading, and then they mail them back to you.

While not ideal in my view, I still prefer to give my cards to PSA at a show.

I have attended the last two Chicago Nationals and had cards graded on site. I'm hoping to attend this year also.

While I do feel a little nervous sending cards in the mail, you have to remember that Tiffany's also send diamond rings through the mail. While there is a risk of theft, I have to think it's awfully low going to PSA or SGC. And I agree Registered Mail is slow as hell but very safe. Package is scanned and physically signed in at every turn.

Yet another reason I'll just stick to taking my cards down the street to BGS.

Again, nothing like being able to directly drop-off and pick-up every single order I have.
