When Looking at Post and Jello PSA cards w/numeric grades Vs. PSA Authentic, it is tough to tell the difference. What determines when a card gets a number grade vs. authentic?

Since they are hand cut there is a minimum size requirement to get a numeric grade. Also, you can choose Authentic if you don't want a low grade.

It seems what Joshua said is in play here, because if you follow the white border around the card, the Aaron on the right actually has more surface area than the number-graded card on the left, yet it only received an 'authentic' grade.

I would say the 2 you picture should have also been authentic as it's missing borders.

Different day, different grader, different rules, different results.
It's a beautiful thing.

A cut line visible around the entire card. Can be cut on the line or outside. Once in a while they are smaller and somehow got an undeserving number grade. They also often grade jello as post.
