The 1949 LEAF's aren't the most pretty looking cards in the hobby, but there is a certain appeal to them. Anyhow, I have quite a sentimental attachment
to these cards, as they were my first colorized BB cards I collected when I was a kid. I still remember opening a pack and finding a Babe Ruth card. They were great for flipping, or scaling with your buddies. I still have my original 49-card set from my youth. Never saw any of the 2nd series (49 cards) in our neighborhood in Hillside, NJ. These so-called Short-Prints were distributed only to Eastern Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio. I'll start this show with my two favorites. Looking forward to seeing your 1949 LEAF cards. 1st Series.....issued March 1949 (last card of Joe D in a major set) ![]() ![]() 2nd Series.....issued Summer 1949 (1st card of Paige in a major set) ![]() ![]() TED Z T206 Reference . . |
