How can PSA grade a 1980 Topps coin NM, did they have master copies of the Gold Silver Bronze coins to compare with metal and details of the strike. Best case should have been Authentic for the coins

This is why PSA makes so much money........who would even waste their time getting 1980 coins graded by PSA?!?!?!?!?

Mike---I am not a graded guy, but one reason someone might get something like this graded is just to authenticate it as a legitimate Topps item. They are scarce and little known in the collecting community, although they are listed as a Topps 1980 issue in the SCD Standard Catalog.
For example, I have 3 other items that may or not be actual Topps products. Two are listed as such in SCD, but there is uncertainty on both. Authentication might make such items, like the coins, more valuable. The bottom 3 below are all listed as Topps items in SCD, the first is not. But, I think the coins are the only conclusive Topps item ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
