Took a chance on this one and didn't pay a ton but didn't have time to do much research. At first glance Martin and Kaline looked good, Bunning left me unsure. Wondering what the experts think though....for what I spent it wouldn't be the worst mistake I've made and seemed worth the risk.

Hi Nathan,
I am 98% confident that Bunning is 100% legit. Your ball's Bunning sig on the sweet spot compares favorably with two Bunning exemplars that I have from close to his rookie season. Slant, formation of all letters, EXCEPT the capital "B" on mine which appears to be much more "rounded" and a bit more upright. Additionally, Bunning added a "flourish" to the end of his "g" in Bunning, but I suspect that he would not necessarily do this when signing a ball. My team sheet from the same era exhibits this as well, FWIW. I suspect that this difference is accounted for by mine being a couple of years earlier in his career. Anyway, I'm sure others will chime in, but I would feel confident with your purchase.... |

Thanks Scott. I like the comparisons with the "Jim" and your confidence is reassuring though the "B" does bother me a bit still. I know it would be an early signature (probably '58) and that is why I posted because of knowledgable people like yourself.
Still wondering if anyone else has any opinions good or bad about the Bunning and the Kaline and Billy Martin. Thanks all. |
