Originates directly from the personal collection of a former Los Angeles Times sportswriter who began collecting autographs in the 1950's.
NAPOLEON "LARRY" LAJOIE Black and white "Albertype" plaque signed boldly in ball point on the bottom portion of the front and dated 6/21/54. Exceptional condition , only very slight hint of shading on four corners from mounting hinges. In person almost impossible to see. The toning is exaggerated in the scan. Signed Black and white plaques have become increasing rare to find especially in this condition. Considered Baseball's first superstar of the 20th century. Lajoie won Baseball's Triple crown in 1901 and led the league in batting five times. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937 and died in 1959. MEL OTT Black and white "Albertype" plaque signed boldly in ball point . Exceptional condition , only very slight hint of shading on four corners from mounting hinges. In person almost impossible to see. The toning is exaggerated in the scan. Signed Black and white plaques have become increasing rare to find especially in this condition. A 12 Time All Star he hit 511 home runs in his playing career with the Giants 1926-1947. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951 and died in 1958. FRED CLARKE Black and white "Albertype" plaque signed boldly in fountain pen on lower light portion. Exceptional condition , only very slight hint of shading & tape stain on four corners from mounting hinges. In person almost impossible to see. The toning is exaggerated in the scan. Signed Black and white plaques have become increasing rare to find especially in this condition. As a player Clarke had 11 seasons in which he hit .300 or better as a manager for the Pirates he won pennants in 1901, 1902, 1903, 1909. He was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in 1945 and died in 1960. EDD WALSH Black and white "Albertype" plaque signed boldly in ball point on the lower light portion. Exceptional condition , only very slight hint of shading on four corners from mounting hinges. In person almost impossible to see.The toning is exaggerated in the scan. Signed Black and white plaques have become increasing rare to find especially in this condition. One of the greatest pitchers of his era played for the Chicago White Sox 1904-16 and Braves 1917. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946 and died in 1959.
