I'm interested in this Willie Mays Hartland "GOLD VERSION"
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-1960...3D390745184320 I'm new to Hartland collecting. Can any of you tell me about the gold version? What kind of premium should I pay above the standard Hartland statue's? Thanks

I call BS. This looks to me like a regular Hartland that has suffered the ravages of age and possibly half a century of cigarette smoke.

I don't collect Hartland figures, but have owned dozens over the years...this sounds like a concocted story to help sell a figure that has been discolored from the elements. Google ("Gold version" Hartland) and the only thing that comes up is this exact Willie Mays and a very rare Mickey Mantle lamp where the figure actually was colored gold.

That's hysterical! I thought the same thing, but said "no" it can't be that yellow throughout the entire statue.
Thanks

He should pay you the premium for taking it off his hands. He should also know better... this guy has been dealing in Hartlands forever.

I have an extensive Hartland collection. If interested you can see some old photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/6018636...7625348012713/ So, as you can see I know a little bit about Hartlands. The first I saw or heard of these "gold" Hartlands was 10 years ago or more when a dealer who is a Doctor from OMAHA ( Payton Manning's vacation spot) had a group of them at a show at the old Ft. Washington show in PA. We had quite a "discussion" about them. He told me Frank Fulop who worked at Hartland told him the "gold set" was a test. Believe that if you like. Believe too that there was a conversation which I doubt. If the set was made in a gold plastic it would be gold throughout the plastic. I have seen one of the "gold" statues opened up so you could see the inside of the statue. Much like looking down the Duke's head from an earlier post of a current one on ebay. Needless to say the insides were white not gold. As someone earlier noted this statue and the rest of the "golds" have seen too much sunlight and or cigarette smoke through the years. That is an impressive collection Whiteymet. Thanks for sharing. I have collected Hartlands for many years as well and only heard of these from one guy who sets up at the National and Chicago Sun Times show. He had about 5 or 6 of them if I remember correctly that he was calling "Gold". My first thought was they have seen to much sun light or smoke.

I had the Gold Mickey Mantle lamp at one time, it did not look like this, wrong color. I will say the coloring does not look like smoke or any light damage though. If a Hartland collector could get this cheap, would be a nice variation.
