Just updating my site with the Hendlers stamped back so thought I would share. Would enjoy seeing other ones (same type or different) as always...

Not sure I'd characterize these as "strip" cards, but they are generally referred to that way. W554 Grove and Cochrane with Bonemery backs. If anyone has one of the red back prints would love to get one or at least know who it is.

Hey Leon, just a friendly "heads-up" on the 1923 Fleer issue...
The actual ACC # for that set is E241. In the ACC it is listed as "Movie Stars" but as the back of the cards read the series was actually a series of "Famous People". I have seen a few other (non baseball subjects) and the best I can guess is that the set is a mixed set of the 60 baseball cards (W515-1 cards), and 60 others that feature Movie Stars, Boxers, and Western Subjects to make up the 120 subjects. The baseball guys are very tough but the non-baseball are perhaps even tougher. Not sure if you were aware of that or not but if not you can check off a ACC type that you probably didn't even know you needed!

Difficult to read. It says Sandow Co. from Cincinnati. I've never been able to learn anything further about it.

Leon, I just took a close look at the backs of your and my Hendlers ('s) cards and noticed these two differences:
(1) Yours says Hendler's, whereas mine says Hendlers. The few other cards I have seen also say Hendlers, which is how this brand name appears on the vintage advertising items for this ice cream that I see on eBay. (2) The last word of the third line on yours is "plate," whereas, the last word on mine is "palate." The other cards I have seen with this same slogan (there are several different slogans for the third line that are known to exist) also have "palate." These two differences lead me to speculate that your card is an earlier printing or stamping, which was subsequently corrected. Val |

This is a new one that I had never heard of before. It is either "Vice Candy Co. or possibly something like "Service Candy Co." just missing the first few letters. Unfortunately the tape or stamp hinge mark is right over the city name but it is in California. Interesting to note it is the same color as the fairly-recently outed 2nd Henry Johnson back that I have seen only 2 examples of.
Anyways, I was pretty excited to add it to the collection... E-Uncataloged "Vice Candy Co." (or W575-1 for Leon ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice card, Rhett. It is Service Candy Company. That is only the 2nd one I have seen (though I am sure there are probably more). I have one that has the full name, and a few other details, but is light otherwise...Yes, it is in my collection as W575-1, as I do these others too....though if I am not mistaking Gasslers might actually have a number. I will have to check it...
