I'm normally a post war collector, but just came across some of these and fell in love with them. I love the photos and the backs are just classic.
Anyone out there collect these? What should I look out for? Are there color tint variations? If so, which are the hardest to come by? Are they on a lesser stock? Some scans I see look a little more flimsy than most larger cards like these. Basically just looking for more info on this set. Would love to see scans if anyone has them. Thanks!

Premiums from Goudey. 24 in set. Colors are BW and Sepia. I dont think there is a difference in price. Beautiful set. Affordable with the DiMaggio and T. Williams the most expensive. The Williams is gorgeous IMO and Im sorry to have sold mine. Good Luck!

This is a great issue, but there are several different Goudey Premiums from 1939.
The R303-B issue contains 24 subjects with Dimaggio as the Key. It can be found in Black & White or Sepia, with little price different between them. The R303-A issue contains 48 subjects and is smaller in size, but on very similar (and thin) paper stock. It comes only in sepia and is more scarce than the 303-B. Williams is found in this series, not the 303-B. Completing this set is a real challenge. In Canada, World Wide Gum distributed these 303-A images. It is cataloged as V351. These are even more scarce than the 303s. All of these are on very fragile stock which easily wrinkles with even casual handling. True high grade specimens are rare. I have handled a good number of these in the process of completing the sets. Please feel free to PM me if you would like more information. |
