I was researching various issues on the chain of Factory designation and Districts and came across a few surprising items. The "District" after the Factory designations referred to revenue or tax Collections Districts. District #1 pertained to northern NY, while District #2 pertained to southern NY.
I also knew that Factory #649 - 1 of 2 factories that manufactured Mecca brand of cigarettes - was located in Rochester NY. Mecca, of course is affiliated with T201 & T202 baseball cards. However, according to the Rochester, NY historical society, production stopped here in 1905. This was 6 years prior to the manufacture of T201 (presumed early 1911 release) - which indicates the were produced in District #1. I was surprised by this discovery. Thoughts guys?
