Anyone ever seen this letterhead before? It was issued by the Dickel Distributing Company of Pennsylvania, a distributor of home radios and appliances, in September 1930. The letter is a motivational call to the company's sales reps. The theme is to "change their glasses" - a reference to changing their outlook from the pessimism of the depression (smoke colored glasses) to an opportunistic future (rose colored glasses). It uses an analogy of Hack Wilson dropping two fly balls in the sun during the 1929 World Series, costing the Cubs Game 4 against the Athletics, due to Hack not changing his glasses. Very elaborate letterhead with an interesting baseball theme tied to a specific player and event.
Just curious if anyone knew of this letter's existence and if there is knowledge of any other surviving copies. ![]() |
