Some Hall of Famer's are harder to find than others. Since I didnt figure that I would ever stumble across the Morgan Bulkeley true rookie 'card' (1870's Mathew Brady Cabinet 1 of 1), I thought I would settle for this. Unbelievably, I found this on ebay for a rather bargain price.
It is a 1908 George Wright postcard of Bulkeley long after he was the first president of the National League, and by this point a US Senator and President of the Bridge Commission. Old Cardboard lists this as his (B) rookie card, but I see it as his only 'card' actually obtainable that was issued while he was still living. OC shows a card very similar to this as their image. Apparently there were variations. The post card is postmarked Oct 3, 1908, three days before the start of the Hartford Bridge dedication, which is the purpose for this card. Bulkeley.jpg |

I agree with your assessment. It's a nice piece and still available at a nice price. They also come in many different backs. Here's mine:

Very nice. There's definitely more variations on these than I thought.. I may have to start looking for them again. Those are both great examples. I've posted these a few times before. I have these 3.. The first three pics are all from the same bi-fold PC..the next two pics are front/back of another variation, and then the one in the last pic is unused..

Here's mine. I didn't know about the other variations. The one with the boats is cool.

The only one tougher than Bulkeley is William Hulbert. Here is my Bulkeley, the first obtainable "baseball" card of him along with the previously mentioned cabinet card..............

Hmmmm, some of the postcards have telephone poles and others don't. Could some have been made AFTER 1908?
