Thank you Ken....I wasn't too sure about it...I know his signature got sloppy late in his career, but i've never seen an "n" line that and "H" doesn't look right...
Thanks again.

James, I haven't seen any exemplars like this one, although there could be one out there. I've seen a handful of later in life autos and none have looked quite this slow, and the H on those was more forcefull when crossing over and the S never seems to be that rounded at the bottom. (also the N as you stated). Personally I'd look for another one unless someone has better info.

Even if good I wouldn't want it either. HS was pretty good TTM for a while there and he would often write his name along with teams and years. I'd look for one of those.

There are viewable examples of Hilton Smith's autograph through Google, Bing, etc. The detail may not be good, but they can help. The "H" isn't that bad, but the rest is a pretty long stretch, even accounting for later in life autographs of his. The "on" looks bad, and the "n" doesn't have the right sort of tail. The "S" looks bad (unique, which is generally bad), and the "h" doesn't have the right tail flair either.
Close, but probably not. Last edited by 36GoudeyMan; 04-16-2013 at 02:16 PM. |
