Did you buy this Lajoie?

If you jumped on this card within a minute of it being listed, you might want to get your money back. It is a reprint. I went to the seller's page after seeing what they listed, which were legit T206's and saw this title and a nice BIN price just listed. By the time I clicked on it, the card was already sold. The buyer has a 1288 feedback rating, so it might be someone here, since they obviously buy a lot and knew to jump on it at that price.

Earlier today, I saw someone listed a t206 Cobb for $1200. They too had a bunch of legit t206's, but the Cobb was not. They dropped the price drastically and changed it to be a reprint in the title after I talked to them about the card.

with 9/10 posts on this board about t206, i wanna give the people here more credit than that. if nothing else osmosis takes over and you realize that's a reprint with tea spilled onto it.

Hope it wasn't anyone here but as quick as that card was bought, the buyer didn't look over it for too long. It was bought 2 min and 26 sec after it was listed.

Looks like something I would do, but no, it wasn't me. I have the fake font down on the T206 reprints. Early photos and cabinet cards, I can still be fooled.

Btw, I call this guy "La Joy", but have heard many people use the French pronunciation "La wah ju eh".

Does anyone know how people pronounced his name in the period?

I heard on an old video playing at the HOF around 1991, they were saying his name "Laa-shu-way...I guess that is how you would sound it out. The first part would be like the "la" in "lap" and the middle part sounds like the word "shoe" with emphasis on the SH

Not long ago there was a NASCAR driver named Randy Lajoie and he pronounced his name in the Americanized "La Joy".

At card shows down South I'm going to still call him Nap "La Joy", if I ever go back to the National or Eastern shows I will say " Lah shoo weh"

I believe that Nap prefered the Lah- zway French pronunciation.
