Greetings All,
Not sure I've ever posted on this side (read frequently) of the site, but am curious if anyone here can shed some light on something. I am currently reading "The Deacon and the SchoolMaster" (about Deacon Phillipe and Sam Leever), and came across the following: "On game day, a parade of more than 20 carriages followed by 500 Pirates rooters, and accompanied by Guenther's Greater Pittsburgh Band, marched from downtown to Exposition Park. Each rooter wore a large pin adorned with the Pirates' colors, red and navy blue, and gilded with "Loyal Rooters, Pittsburg, 1903." The Red Sox and their "Royal Rooters" seems to be well documented, but this is the first I've read about the Pirates' "Loyal Rooters". Anyway, I'm curious to see if anyone can post an example of the pin noted above? Anything else related is obviously more than welcome, too. Regards, Richard. |
