well, i am done removing all of the card from the sheets, i have 4 cards graded by SGC (still there). I am in the process of taking good scans of the front and backs of the cards. i will post them here 9 at a time.
The Ruth got a SGC 50 Gehrig SGC 40 Lopez SGC 40 Hartnett SGC 40 I am going to put the set on ebay for a 10 day auction and leave it there until it is sold. I have an honest question, what do you think this set will bring? I would like to make at least $2000 on the set but that would have me putting a $4200 reserve on it at a cost of $40+. Do you think it will sell fo rover $4000 with NO RESERVE? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I doubt it, based off how sales have been lately. You might have some luck here and there, but for the most part sales have been down. Especially when you don't start the auctions at $.99

It might not sell initially. You wouldn't lose the $40, they will eventually sell. I'd like to buy a beater, but can't chase all of them. A bunch of folks would like one or a few, but it would be tedious to list them individually.
So'd you just soak them off of the page, rinse them, then dry them? Easy, right!!! |

You got a nice set there, but as Davy-Kangaroo-Jones said sales have been down lately unless you have a limited edition item or one of the major cards (You know which ones I'm talking about, just don't feel like listing them all.) and even then the sales have been somewhat down.
If you want you can hang on to them, but other than your best bet is to sale the cards seperatly, it will be a long process, but I believe you will make more money off them this way. |

Maximizing the value of a set for resale is something i'm still figuring out as a relative newbie. How you group together the cards and organize the auction is key to getting the most out of the collection. As a test, I picked up a small set of victorian baseball die cuts, ungraded. I think the route I will take is to grade the entire set, post it on a registry, and use that as a selling point. In this situation, however, the number of Baguer cards might make it cost prohibitive to grade. Since you are attempting to "flip" this set, I suggest putting together a good presentation for it and get them some good exposure. Have you considered cosigning it to a major auction house? The thing I love about the auction houses like REA is the great descriptions they have of each item, supported by informational data that really helps justify the value of the collectible. Have you researched previous action results? History of the set, etc?
I just think that if you list it for 2x cost BIN OBO on eBay that you might be waiting a while for a good offer. At some point though, you have to trust the market and auction it off old school style. Last edited by SetBuilder; 06-13-2012 at 06:36 PM. Reason: Spelling. |
