1975 Topps Mini Gaylord Perry PSA 10 w/HUGE print spot on his last name can be yours for a mere ...... $1,500!!! (including Memory Lane's commission)
http://www.memorylaneinc.com/site/bi...p?itemid=24350 Bidding already up to $1,111, sans commission. This is so pathetic in so many respects ..... the idiot grader, the idiot bidders, the idiotic registry. For that much money, maybe a little more, you could buy an entire vending box of 1975 Topps Mini cards with huge print spots and get dozens of cards this nice or nicer. PSA is killing the hobby and the market with this kind of nonsense. Total insanity. A crash is way overdue. When will people learn? |

I personally don't like the card as "Gem", but here is the grading standard...and I'm sure you could argue both sides!!
GEM-MT 10: Gem Mint A PSA Gem Mint 10 card is a virtually perfect card. Attributes include four perfectly sharp corners, sharp focus and full original gloss. A PSA Gem Mint 10 card must be free of staining of any kind, but an allowance may be made for a slight printing imperfection, if it doesn't impair the overall appeal of the card. The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse. |

So many of the cards from that year that I had purchased from the local 7-11 had the ink splots. I remember being truly frustrated about that way back when...

"fish-eyes" being the correct term, I believe. '75's were famous for them!

Similar - just more modern. As a '89 Ripken collector, I was appalled to see this grade. I have the same card in a nice PSA 9 (ST) slab. A '10' with a stain like that isn't right. Last edited by jp1216; 05-14-2012 at 06:30 PM. |
