Im new, I need Help Please

So this is my 1st ebay purchase and it all seems to be going a bit sour, i really need some help and advice please.

I contacted him and asked if he would be willing to ship to South Africa. I got no response. I contacted him 3 days later asking the same question and if he could give an estimate of the cost of shipping to South Africa, Again i got no response.

I then contact a friend in the US and asked if i could ship them something and then they reship to me in South AFrica, they agreed, I entered their shipping information and purchased a few boxes of the product for $17 a box.(5boxes)

Here is the ebay reciept:

Estimated delivery: July 26 - July 27-sais it was posted 21/07/2011

I pay the total and he sends me a message :

its going to cost more than that to ship the cards to you i will need you to send more money for the s/h

I reply asking how much and if its not possible he can go ahead and ship to my USA address, he doesnt get back to me and just ships to the USA address.

So now the 26/27 passes and my friend recieves no parcel and again today she still has not received it, so I messaged him asking him whats going on:

not sure if i have them i will check i went to the post office and paid for the shipping there i was asking them what it would be to ship all the way to south africa and they said it would cost alot

on the boxes it says box number 1 of 5 and so on and they all have a packing slip saying they are for you to be forward to south africa it takes time but they were sent out over a week ago

Am I being a bit paranoid or is this guy sounding a bit dodgy? Any advice on proceeding would be greatly aprecitaed, and like I say this is my 1st transaction and I am a very much a novice as far as cards and things are concereced although I have been trying to educate myself in the last few weeks, sorry about the spelling...

I really understand very little of what you said.

How many different lots did you buy?
How much was shipping?
Did you purchase this from your eBay account or your friend's account?
How did you pay?

i bought 5 lots
shipping on each lot to my friend in USA was 9.99$ total 49.95$
My own Ebay Acc
I used my mothers paypal acc(with her concent)

Should i be worried? The guy seems a bit stupid?

You'll need to read up on the eBay and PayPal rules. At some point you can file a claim for item not being received. If the seller used Priority Mail, which is what he was advertising, it should take 3 days tops to a US address. I'm not sure what impact having him ship to a non-verified address will have.

Beyond that, if you send two questions to someone and get ignored I'd suggest scratching them off the list of sellers you want to do business with. If they can't be bothered to answer chances are they will not be overly committed to a smooth deal.

Buyer and seller both made mistakes here. Both are at fault.

Several things to address:

1.) If you purchased multiple lots, the seller should have combined shipping for you. $49.95 shipping is absolutely ridiculous unless he shipped 5 separate packages. If he shipped everything in 1 package, then you got screwed on shipping.

2.) For the seller to covered (seller protection), he should have shipped to the address that is provided by PayPal. So, if the payment was made from your mother's PayPal account, the seller should have shipped to that address. Is that the address you're expecting the package to go to?

3.) Either way, the seller should have provided a tracking number.

4.) If you do not get your packages, I’m not sure who PayPal would side with in this case. This is very difficult and I wouldn’t recommend doing it like this in the future. If the seller doesn’t ship to South Africa, then move on to the next item.

That's what makes this a very difficult situation. Did the seller ship to the PayPal address, or did the seller ship to another address that the buyer provided? I'm not sure he can file a INR - he didn't pay. Payment came from a PayPal account that was not associated with his eBay account.

He can't PROVE payment for THIS purchase. If he tells PayPal that payment was made from another account, all the seller has to say is that was for a different purchase for different items. I'm not sure if the buyer is covered because the payment did not come from his PayPal account.
