I would appreciate any help in regards to the 1800's die cut issue. Chas. B Hull secy/Tres. in this image. The other 2 are imperial Tobacco c46. Thanks, Jeff W

Is it a die-cut, or a handcut scrap?
Ive never seen it before, to me it looks like a handcut Victorian Tradecard, especially with the design in background of image between legs and at bottom, and no real caption that describes the die-cut, like team or player position usually found with die-cuts of the Era. What does it say on back? |

I agree with Frank. Another possibility is that it is from the front cover of an 1880's scorecard and the Sec'y & Tres. is that of the team that was hosting the game.

It's referring to Charles B. Hull from Detroit, who at one time was the treasurer and general manager of the "American Eagle Tobacco Company". There's a small biography if you scroll down to page 54 on this link.
http://books.google.com/books?id=Fkh...etroit&f=false Anyways, I also found this. So it was cut from a trade card like Frank suggested. This isn't the same player pose, but it fits the layout perfectly. http://www.oldjudge.com/archive/2006...th_century/17/ Last edited by novakjr; 01-30-2011 at 02:37 PM. |

the back is blank and it is on thinner stock. So being cut from a trade card is a definate possibility. It is extremely well cut and clean at all points. Thanks all for the help, JEFF W
