Considering the circumstances, I was 50/50 on this bat. I figured the bat was period and that the bat of a pitcher wouldn't be one that was on store shelves regularly. Still, I was scared by a lack of provenance and set of limit of $300. Considering that $300 is my monthly budget and I had already pressed that limit in May, I couldn't go any higher. (Had the circimstances dictated I would have spent much more.) So.......
1. As a Bridges collector, did I miss an opportunity to add a once in a lifetime piece. 2. Was I wrong to assume it GU's authenticity at 50/50? 3. Did anyone on Net54 purchase this or know who did, because if 1, 2, 5, or 10 years from now you decided to sell it, I really want it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT |

Wow that sucks you just missed it, I know absolutly nothing about bats but think your 50/50 guess is right on. I'm not sure how many bats would've been made with his name so maybe that up's it to 80% ? Also the fact that others bid higher means they thought it was real, and the question someone asked with the numbers on the end of the bat may mean something to authenticate it ? Hopefully if real you will get another shot at it sometime, or better yet get one of his gloves !!

It is a pro model bat from what looks to be 1943-49. Better pictures of the label would help determine exactly when its from.
