![]() ![]() 10.5" wide x 4.35" tall This is a new kind of thread...post what you missed out on, that is, what you got out bid on. This will also be the first bowling piece ever on Net54...that is if Leon doesn't delete it LOL... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT Above is a c1900 bowling inkwell...or inkstand I was the under-bidder on tonight on eBay....it was made by the WMF company of I think Germany or Austria. WMF was a big name..I think on par with America's Reed and Barton, Tiffany's, and Gorham. It's the first and only example I've seen. I once got held up on eBay for $1,200.00 for a crazy rare inkwell of a weightlifter http://www.sportsantiques.com/and_more.htm ....I wasn't in the mood to pay that again so kept it reasonable...I figured that nut case who jacked the weightlifter up on me wouldn't see it since the listing was kind of off..The seller, who I've bought from twice before, had the word "bowling" in the title but omitted the word "antique"...that was my first break I thought...and he called it an "inkstand" instead of an inkwell...if you type in those two terms Inkwell has way more listings than inkstand...I think it's an English thing..the seller is English I think even though he his listing says he's in the U.S...Lastly, the seller didn't put in the writing utensils area: Collectibles > Pens & Writing Instruments > but instead listed it in Antiques > Decorative Arts > Metalware > Other But all that strategy was all for naught...someone who understood it with the means spotted it....probably a inkwell collector...probably that yo yo that made me pay for the weightlifter LOL...oh well, turn the page....By the way, don't ya hate the eBay thing of hiding the winner now... ![]()
