Default Help for a non-collector

Hi guys.

Caution. Memorabilia collector crossing over.

My uncle recently acquired his dad's collection of cards from the 50's. He has no idea what he has, year wise. Can anyone provide a link to an image gallery that shows a representative sample from each year? By description, they all sound like regular Topps issues.

Also, when new stuff like this comes to market (which it most likely will), what is the preferred way to purchase a collection like this? Graded, raw, singles, groups, etc......? I don't think he has sets. Most likely lots of commons, in fair condition, some stars. As far as specifics, I really don't know. I'm hoping to get to see them soon.

Any help, or links to similar previous discussions would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

William
