Had discussion with dad as to the era with the most top-flight pitchers.
Early baseball with Cy Young & Radbourne 1910's-20's with Matty, Walter Johnson, then Grover Alexander 1930's with Lefty Grove, Carl Hubbell, Dizzy Dean 1940's-50's with Feller, Spahn, W. Ford 1960's with Koufax, Gibson, Marichal 1970's with Seaver, Carlton, Palmer, Ryan I like the 1970's era - strong. Dad liked the Matty/Johnson/Alexander era - although Matty and Alexander didn't overlap much. And the 30's if you throw in S. Paige, wow! Your votes? steve |

As you stated in each era there were some truly amazing pitchers,as you listed.I'm pretty fond of the pitchers you listed for the 1960's and 1970's-especially the 1970's.IMO.

They were all so good tough to pick the best, except Satchell Paige was probably the best ever, then maybe Nolan Ryan. I'm partial to Chief Bender and would say he is next !!
