Howdy gang,
For those of you who won't be able to get down to Atlanta for our little field trip to Athens, I thought this might be of interest. The Senator Russell collection is now available online for detailed viewing. You can check it out at http://baseballcards.galib.uga.edu/?Welcome. Cheers! Ted |

Hi there - maybe I'm a bit slow, but I'm not seeing any links to cards; lots with personal papers and such, but I can't seem to find any link to the actual cards

Hi Marty,
I agree, it's not the most user friendly interface around. You can use the browse or search features. The drop downs will help you navigate different "fields." And just to save some of ya'll the trouble: http://baseballcards.galib.uga.edu/c...l?query=id:878 (that's Doyle) Last edited by CardPricer.com; 09-30-2009 at 10:35 AM. |

I know what I'm doing on the web and I can't even figure out how to browse the collection without having to do very specific searches for content.
They need to fire their web designer. |

Wow, 67 of the Series 8 cards with scans. It's easy to see these were distributed regionally as he only had 2 Series 4 and 2 Series 6 cards. A ton of Series 1 and Series 8. Hmmm.
The best thing about the Series 8 cards (no Joe Jackson or Stengel darn it) is the chance to see a couple of cards I had never, ever seen before like de Montreville no hat variation. Thanks for the link! tbob |

Here's what I found worked best to view everything:
On the main page (http://baseballcards.galib.uga.edu/?Welcome) click GO next to Keyword in Browse the Collection. This brings up the letter "A" On the search results page, click 100 in the Display in Groups of, located towards the bottom. This will now display a listing of all the tags, grouped by 100, starting by the letter "A" From there, I am opening groups that I want to view in a new tab. I don't lose my place in the alphabetical grouping list and just have a bunch of tabs open. The only thing that you might want to do is when opening another tab, towards the bottom click 99 to show almost everything on the page. For example, National League has 292 cards so it is 3 pages. Most importantly, there are direct links to player cards on the left of the search results. Sample: http://baseballcards.galib.uga.edu/c...format=&grid=3 |
