So the auction for the PSA 8 Ogden's I-Base Old Tom beauty ended a couple of days ago, apparently selling for the reserve price of $4K.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tab%3DWatching Does anyone know if this is the card that originated raw on ebay about a year and a half ago, from Australia? I can't find any exact pictures of that old listing but remember a beauty popping up from Down Under not too long ago. The PSA pop only shows 1 graded as an 8 and nothing else close, so I'm thinking it may have been that card. What do folks think of the $4K price? As expected? High / low? |

Yes, I was also watching the auction. I was shocked that it sold for that much, but not surprised (if that makes sense). It really only takes one bidder with a reserve like that. The PSA 8 has the same cut as a old PSA 7 scan that I have saved off from back in 2002 or 2003. I wish I would have won the PSA 7 that I have the old scan of. I show that it only sold for $250 back then!

its a great card.
I believe there was a raw one that went for $2K plus (a while back), and I was a bit surprised at that result (since it seems easy to get a recolored or trimmed card in the issue). $4K for a PSA 8 Old Tom Ogdens... 8s, 9s, and 10s are where crazy multiples / numbers happen - - so its hard to say if the price is high or low. If it is high, I don't think it is by much.

My guess was it would sell for around $2500 - $3000, so I was a bit surprised it went for $4,000, but like you guys said, not too surprised.
Considering the price for this one, I guess I'm a bit happier I got my SGC 84 for $1200 earlier this year.... |
