While I'm trying to think of others, I'll try Earl Combs, Joe DiMaggio, and Mickey Mantle. I know Chapman played more games than Combs in center in 1935, and maybe 1934, but Combs was still in center some of the time....

All three of these left fielders were inducted in 1945

George Kelly was at 2nd for the New York Giants for 108 games in 1925.
In 1926 the Giants had Frankie Frisch at 2nd in 127 games.
And Rogers Hornsby was at 2nd for the Giants for 155 games in 1927.


This surprises me... not Frisch and Hornsby, but Kelly. I'd always thought of him as a big first baseman. I'm surprised he was at second base.

Thanks for this. In all the times I've looked at the Macmillan Baseball Encyclopedia and now www.baseball-reference.com, I never noticed Kelly played 2B for significant games.
